Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii

Dr. Gerard Akaka

Dr. Gerard Akaka has been named vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer for The Queen’s Medical Center. Akaka joined The Queen’s Medical Center in 2002 as medical director of the Queen Emma Clinics. He most recently served as interim chief medical officer for the hospital.

Wut Hmone Thant

Wut Hmone Thant has been hired as client services manager for MontPac Outsourcing, an accounting and financial outsourcing company. She will work with the company’s clients and will be responsible for business development and sourcing new clients for the company.

Alan Akisada

Alan Akisada has been appointed director of banquets at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Akisada is a 10-year veteran in the hospitality industry specializing in food and beverage operations. As director of banquets, he will oversee banquet wait help and banquet porters for the hotel.

Leiomalama Desha

Leiomalama Desha has been appointed executive assistant to the executive director for Hawaii Government Employees Association (HGEA). Desha has been with HGEA for 21 years and prior to her promotion served as field services officer for educational affairs and UH administrative, professional and technical employees.

Jerry Dolak

Jerry Dolak has been promoted to director, security and-safety for Outrigger Hotels and Resorts. He most recently served as Outrigger’s safety and emergency planning specialist. Dolak now oversees security-related functions for the company, including maintenance and enforcement of security regulations and procedures.

Nora Nomura

Nora Nomura has been promoted to deputy executive director - field for Hawaii Government Employees Association (HGEA). Nomura will oversee all field operations and field services officers who represent HGEA members in the seven bargaining units. She has been with HGEA for 25 years and previously served as executive assistant to the deputy executive director.

Dawn Shin

Dawn Shin has been named assistant director for The Women’s Fund of Hawaii. With extensive non-profit experience, she will focus on coalition development and building community programs. Prior to her position at the Women’s Fund, she launched and managed county-wide subsidized child care programs for low-income families.
