Joseph Whelan

Joseph Whelan has been appointed general manager for Waste Management of Hawaii. He will be responsible for the day-to-day operations at the three Waste Management operated landfills in Hawaii. Whelan has more than 20 years’ experience in the waste management industry. He previously served as district manager of Waimanalo Gulch Landfill.

Grant Chun

Grant Chun has been hired as project designer for RIM Architects - Hawaii. With more than 12 years of design experience working in both Hawaii and U.S. Mainland markets, Chun has received numerous design recognitions.

Tulinh Luciano-DeSmith

Tulinh Luciano-DeSmith has been hired as director of sales and marketing for Hawaii’s first Ernie Els Signature golf course and clubhouse at Hoakalei Country Club. Most recently, Luciano-DeSmith served as director of market sales for Aqua Hotels and Resorts. She has nearly 20 years of hospitality sales and marketing experience in Hawaii.

John C. Keene

John C. Keene has been named foundation programs director for St. Francis Healthcare Foundation. In his new position, Keene’s responsibilities include overseeing fund development, capital campaigns and financial investments. Prior to joining the foundation team, he served as rehabilitation services manager for St. Francis Home Care Services since 2004.

Gregory Dwight Dunn

Gregory Dwight Dunn has been elected chairman of the board for Hawaii Dental Service (HDS). Also, as executive director of the Hawaii Nature Center, Dunn is volunteering his time to help ensure HDS remains fiscally and operationally sound.

Tara Young

Tara Younghas been appointed senior vice president of corporate development for Marathon Group. Young was most recently senior asset manager for Kamehameha Schools. She has experience with corporate restructuring, financings, mergers and acquisitions and has worked in investment banking at several large global investment firms.

Cathy Im

Cathy Imhas been hired as digital sales manager for KITV 4 Island Television. Im will be responsible for the station’s digital sales efforts, including KITV.com and Island Weather NOW - Digital Channel 126. She previously served as a senior account executive at KGMB 9.

Wendy Takeshita Wong

Wendy Takeshita Wong has been appointed assistant executive director for Kahala Nui, a senior living retirement community. Wong will be responsible for Kahala Nui’s clinical areas, such as assisted living, memory support and the comprehensive care unit. Prior to her new position, she was president of the Queen’s Health Care Centers.

Anne Murata

Anne Murata has been named director of marketing and business development for Pacific Aviation Museum. Murata’s knowledge and skills in destination marketing, major brand management and partnership engagement will help launch the museum internationally. Prior to joining the museum, she was vice president of marketing at Media-HI and marketing director of Royal Hawaiian Center.
