Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii

Bruce Sorman has been named a financial advisor for American Savings Bank. Sorman’s responsibilities include working with customers to manage their financial planning needs. Prior to joining American Savings Bank, he served as financial advisor for LPL Financial.

Lance Kawano has been promoted to senior vice president for Atlas Insurance Agency, Inc.‘s Personal Lines Division. He previously served as vice president, and will continue to be responsible for the strategic planning and profitability of the company’s personal lines accounts. Kawano has more than 17 years experience in the insurance and finance industries.

Terrence Kim has been named assistant beverage manager for Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa. Kim has more than nine years of restaurant management experience, including working at the House Without a Key and Orchids restaurants at the Halekulani Hotel. He also served as a restaurant manager for Hilton Hawaiian Village’s Village Steak & Seafood.

Stephanie Lopez has been appointed a previews team member for Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties’ Windward office and will work toward earning the previews property specialist designation. Lopez has been a licensed Realtor since 1987. Prior to joining the real estate industry, she spent years working in the shipping industry.

Elaine Lee has been hired as director of institutional research for UH West Oahu. Lee is responsible for managing the university’s Institutional Research Office and conducts quantitative and qualitative institutional research by planning, directing and organizing projects for comprehensive study in the areas of enrollment, demographics and retention.

Sherry Hunt has been named assistant claims manager, property and casualty for John Mullen & Company. Hunt has been with the company since 1985 and has 28 years of experience in the claims industry.

Neal Kanda has been hired as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Finance Factors Ltd. Kanda will be responsible for overall financial plans and policies for the company. He also will serve on the Finance Factors Executive Management Committee. Kanda has previous experience as president and chief operating officer of Central Pacific Financial Corp. and Central Pacific Bank.

Margaret Goettelmann has been appointed a previews specialist for Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties’ windward office. Goettelmann has more than seven years experience in the industry and previously worked for Swissair in flight control and Scandinavian Airlines as quality control manager.
