Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii

Monica Salter has been named account manager for Bennet Group Strategic Communications. Salter oversees a range of business accounts for the firm, with a focus on travel and tourism, retail, real estate and energy. Salter is a member of Public Relations Society of America and on the fundraising committee for Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation.
Neil Char has been named a member of the Hawaii Foodbank board of directors. Char also serves as senior vice president and manager of First Hawaiian Bank’s Private Banking Division. He has 16 years of banking experience, specializing in commercial and corporate banking, high-end credit structuring and negotiating, financial management and risk analysis.
Dr. Sharon Nelson-Barber has been elected president and chief executive officer of Pacific Resources for Education and Learning. For the past four years, Nelson-Barber has been serving as the director of WestEd’s Center for the Study of Culture and Language in Education. She also has been a lecturer at Stanford University on the subjects of Native American studies and cultural and social anthropology.
Claire Asam has been elected to a three-year term on the Hawaii Medical Service Association’s community board of directors. Asam is a trustee of the Queen Liliuokalani Trust and also served as president and executive director of Queen Liliuokalani Children’s Center. She serves on the Asian-Pacific Islander Youth Violence Prevention and Hawaii Community Foundation boards, among others.
Scott Pauli has been named area general manager for Aqua Hotels & Resorts with primary oversight of the Park Shore Waikiki. Pauli has been working in Hawaii’s lodging industry since 1991, serving in various management positions, including eight years on Maui with The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua as assistant rooms executive, front-of-house director, director of housekeeping and front-office manager. His most recent position was with Aston Hotels and Resorts as general manager of the Maui Lu Resort.
Eric Martinson has been appointed executive vice president, endowment for The Queen’s Health Systems. Martinson is responsible for management of the Queen’s endowment, which consists of QHS real estate assets and financial investments. He also serves as president of The Queen Emma Land Company and brings more than 25 years of experience to QHS.
Justin Smith has been promoted to manager of eMarketing for Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties. In this role, Smith oversees CBP’s call center, Web site and team of agents who receive Internet leads (eTeam). He also is charged with maximizing the results of leads received through phone and Internet channels, increasing traffic to the company’s Web site and improving agent engagement with prospective clients. He joined CBP in 2006 as a project assistant.
