Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii

Bruce Umeda of NFP’s Highland Capital Brokerage has been honored with the Insurance and Financial Advisor Professional of the Year Award by the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors-Hawaii. He is currently the NAIFA state treasurer and has been in the insurance and financial services industry for 35 years.

Dr. Robert R. Sloan has been appointed physical medicine specialist for Manakai O Malama Integrative Healthcare. Sloan previously served as physician for the U.S. Olympic Committee and the Ironman Triathlon. He specializes in orthopedic and neurological injuries and also works as a boxing championship ringside physician.

Alejandro Moxey has been hired as e-commerce senior manager for Marriott Resorts Hawaii. In this position, Moxey is responsible for managing relationships with online travel companies, as well as overseeing online advertising campaigns, search engine optimization and consumer media for Marriott.com and MarriottHawaii.com.

Mariko Miho has been named senior director of development for the University of Hawaii West Oahu. She will work to cultivate and steward individual major gift donors, and also will work with senior UH Foundation leadership on campaign planning in partnership with the UHWO leadership team. Miho previously served as senior director of development for the community colleges.

Darren Furumoto has been promoted from lead installer to operations manager for Alternate Energy Inc. Furumoto has been with the company for 15 years and is now responsible for quality control, ordering materials, hiring personnel, scheduling installations, system design and new product research.
