Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii

William Van den Hurk, president and owner of Aloha Auto Group Ltd., has been nominated for the 2011 TIME Dealer of the Year Award. He was chosen to represent the Hawaii Automobile Dealers Association in the national competition. Van den Hurk has been in the automobile business since 1964.

Linda Johnsrud has been appointed executive vice president of Academic Affairs/Provost for the University of Hawaii System. Johnsrud will lead campus academic officers to set forth overall academic vision, goals and strategic plan, and also will advise the president on systemwide planning, policy development and analysis matters. She is a professor in the department of Education Administration in the College of Education at UH Manoa.

Reuben Macapinlac has been promoted to marketing assistant at public relations and marketing agency Bright Light Marketing. Macapinlac, who has been with Bright Light Marketing since 2008, will be responsible for supporting the agency’s account team in client services and fulfilling clients’business needs as well as internal operations support.

Fernando Frontera has been promoted to senior structural engineer for Baldridge & Associates Structural Engineering Inc. He will have an expanded role in project management in addition to responsibilities in structural design and construction administration. Frontera earned his state of Hawaii structural engineer’s license in 2009. He has a Master of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Michigan.

Rene Julian has been hired by RevoluSun as an independent project developer. Julian will be responsible for educating and working with residential and commercial customers to achieve energy independence by designing custom solar systems and finding the best financing options available to meet their needs, and take advantage of government incentives. Prior to this, Julian was an energy consultant at Alternate Energy Inc., where he worked to evaluate residential customers’ energy consumption.
