Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii

Constance H. Lau, president and CEO of Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. and chairwoman of American Savings Bank, has been appointed to the newly formed Twelfth District Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council (CDIAC).

Ken Sekimoto has been appointed vice president and sales manager at Territorial Savings Bank. He will be responsible for residential loan production-retail and wholesale. Sekimoto brings 23 years of experience to the job.

Vicky Cayetano has been appointed to the Hawaii Pacific University Board of Trustees. Cayetano is president and chief executive officer of United Laundry Services Inc. and managing director of United Laundry Kona. She is chairwoman of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii and a trustee for the Hawaii Library Foundation.

Candace Akasaki has recently joined Commercial Roofing & Waterproofing as assistant controller. Akasaki will be responsible for assisting with all accounting functions and supervision of staff. Prior to joining CRW, Akasaki was a senior accountant and licensed certified public accountant with Ernst & Young LLP in San Jose, Calif.

Starr Dods has been appointed public relations coordinator for Hawaiian Humane Society. Dods will oversee traditional and social media, website and publications. She brings more than 10 years of experience in public relations, journalism and advertising.

Ed Kenney has joined the Gourmet Events Hawaii team as one of its newest chef partners. After completing the Culinary Institute of the Pacific’s culinary arts program, Kenney opened town restaurant in 2005, followed by Downtown and Uptown Events. Chef Kenney sits on the board of directors for Reuse Hawaii and Sustain Hawaii, and is on the advisory board for MA’O Organic Farms and the Kokua Hawaii Foundation’s ‘Aina in Schools Program.
