Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii

Chris McMahon, the original vice president of advertising for MidWeek during its launch in 1984, has once again joined the organization after an almost six-year hiatus. “Chris’ local knowledge and experience over the past two decades in this market place is tough to find, and we’re pleased to welcome him back as our Director of Merchant Services,” said David Kennedy, VP of Marketing. “Chris brings CreditBack, an attractive state-of-the-art data base management and automated rewards program for merchants, to MidWeek and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin,” added Kennedy.

Carol Hanna was recently hired as assistant resort manager at the Outrigger Royal Sea Cliff Resort. She previously served as the general manager of the Aston-managed Waikoloa Colony Villas.

Ronald Taketa has been appointed to the Hawaii Foodbank Board of Directors. Taketa is the financial secretary and business representative of the Hawaii Carpenters Union, Local 745.

Donald M. Asam has been named general manager of Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Restaurant Row. He previously served as general manager of Ali’i Kai Catama-ran.

Michael B. Terry has been promoted from vice president of landscape architecture to president for Belt Collins Hawaii. He has extensive experience on projects throughout the Pacific Islands and Asia.

Anne Li Mapes has been promoted to chairman and chief executive officer from president for Belt Collins Hawaii.

Franklin Clay has been promoted from account coordinator to assistant account executive of McNeil Wilson Communications. He will be working in the travel and tourism division.

Noelani Schilling-Wheeler has been promoted to senior director of sales and marketing at Oahu Visitors Bureau.

Joy Shinobu Tomita has been promoted to sales manager at Oahu Visitors Bureau . Tomita’s past employment history includes working as a sales coordinator for the Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau.

Joyce Kim was hired as administrative coordinator for the Oahu Visitors Bureau. She previously worked as an administrative assistant at the Sheraton Waikiki.

Lupe Zarate has joined Peter Vincent & Associates as an architectural designer and project manager.

Norman Higashi has been named resident resort manager of the Makaha Resort & Golf Club. Higashi has more than 25 years of hospitality experience.

Tom Ocasek has been appointed to serve on the USS Bowfin and USO Hawaii executive boards . Ocasek is the managing director of MW Group.
