Dear Pamela,
Only in Hawaii would a “knight in shining armor” appear! Thanks, Walter, for giving me a jump so I could get to Queen’s Hospital to volunteer! I come from Illinois and am amazed at the beautiful aloha spirit here! So happy!

Dear Jeanne,
A round of APPLAUSE is due your “Walter,” and also to you. As a new arrival to the islands, you immediately adopted the spirit by volunteering your time and talents to the patients of Queen’s Hospital.

Dear Pamela,
Mahalo to Grayson Chong and his family for finding and returning my cell phone when I lost it at the Guangdong Symphony event at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. I didn’t even know I had misplaced it. After the concert we returned home to find a phone message. Our home number was on speed dial, so the Chongs called to let me know my phone was safe and sound. I picked it up the next day at McDonald’s Aina Haina. Thanks to Grayson and Delia for saving me a lot of worry!

Ruth Kim

Dear Ruth,
The Chongs thank you for being so gracious and for the lovely breakfast you bought them at McDonald’s.

Dear Pamela,
The Aloha Spirit is indeed alive and well! My husband, who uses a cane, and I were wheeling our cart to the car at the supermarket parking lot. We were loaded down with hurricane preparedness items, including two cartons of water. We were trying to figure out how to load the stuff into the car when a kind soul came to our aid. We were so stunned that anyone would help us.

We asked if he was a store employee and he smiled and said no, then pointed to his wife who was waiting in their white SUV. She smiled and waved to us.

These angels disappeared in an instant.

We are still grateful to God for their help. May the blessings be for them and their families.

Dear Joy,
Just in case your angels are busy the next time you visit a supermarket, ask for

assistance at the cashier stand. Most are happy to help customers in loading purchases in their cars.
