Aloha Pamela,

Each year, as part of the Home Energy Challenge, elementary school students and their families learn about the importance of energy conservation. As part of the overall program, the students write their New Year’s resolutions about how to save energy, and do some great and creative drawings.

We’d like to give APPLAUSE to all the keiki who participated this year.

Dear Janeen,

Congrats to the winners of this year’s challenge: Jady Ojiri, sixth-grader at Pearl City Highlands Elementary; Michol Young, first-grader at Kamiloiki Elementary; Matthew Ogawa, second-grader at Mililani Mauka Elementary; and Cassidy Silva, fourth-grader at Mililani Mauka Elementary (see photo). All of the entries can be viewed at heco.com.

(If you know someone who deserves some Applause, send your letters to Pamela Young, MidWeek Applause, KITV, 801 S. King St., Honolulu, HI, 96813 or e-mail pyoung@kitv.com. Include your name, phone number and, if possible, the phone number of your “applaudee” so we can contact him or her.)
