General Manager of Hawthorne CAT Pacific region
Hawaii is home to Caterpillar’s first authorized dealership in America. Opening in 1925 to primarily serve Oahu’s agricultural production needs, Caterpillar’s equipment, expertise and dedication to the communities it serves have helped build Hawaii for nearly a century. At Hawthorne CAT, we are committed to continuing this long legacy of providing top-quality service, equipment and parts to fit the needs of customers in Hawaii, Guam, Saipan, American Samoa and Tonga.
Recently, we implemented technologies designed specifically to reduce the environmental impact of large equipment. In February, Hawthorne CAT launched Caterpillar’s new Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB engines. The Tier 4 engines provide an ideal combination of electronic, fuel, air and after-treatment components, based on engine size, the type of application and the geographic location, to increase efficiencies to bring down costs as well as the impact on our environment. With an estimate of up to 5 percent improvement in fuel efficiency and reductions in both particulate matter and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions, these machines have been specially designed to meet or exceed U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standards set to take effect next year. Our Hawaii team serves various industries, including heavy and general construction, quarry and aggregate, paving, agriculture and landscaping, marine, engine and power generation.
I started as an assistant technician in 1985, and worked nearly every job to become general manager of the company’s Hawaii operations three years ago.
It is a privilege to work with the more than 130 employees at Hawthorne CAT’s Hawaii operations on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Island of Hawaii, who are committed to partnering with their customers to provide exceptional products and services, backed by a strong work ethic and integrity.
Come visit us. After all, we’ve been earning our reputation as Hawaii’s leading large equipment dealer for generations, and plan to be serving its communities for years to come.
