Owner/Hawaii Master Franchiser for Red Mango Hawaii

People often ask me, “With all the other frozen yogurt franchises, why Red Mango?” The answer is simple. I believe in the product and the lifestyle behind it.

The frozen yogurt concept is fascinating to me. Once the craze hit the Mainland, it took off and “fro-yo” shops were opening everywhere. Being the entrepreneur that I am, I soon realized that this was something that I had to be a part of and bring to Hawaii. The question now was, “Which product?” My question was answered on a trip to Los Angeles, where I had my first cup of Red Mango all-natural frozen yogurt. With the first spoonful, I knew the hunt was over. Hawaii had to taste this!

Born and raised in Hawaii, I understand the island lifestyle, and I knew I had the perfect product. Last month we celebrated the opening of Hawaii’s second Red Mango shop located in Kahala Mall. The turnout was amazing and the reaction from customers was overwhelmingly positive. Our first shop is in the Waikiki Beach Walk on Lewers Street.

I understood it was a risk opening yet another frozen yogurt shop on Oahu, but I knew once customers visited Red Mango their expectations would be surpassed. What sets Red Mango apart from the rest are two differentiating factors: its health benefits and taste. The yogurt is all natural, nonfat, gluten-free and packed full of probiotics that support healthy digestive and immune systems. Customers constantly tell me we have the right balance of “sweet vs. tangy” and “creamy vs. icy” that raises Red Mango above the rest.

We currently offer four flavors in our stores: Original, Green Tea, Pomegranate by POM Wonderful and Tangomonium. The yogurt is made by licensed dairy manufacturers in the United States and is freshly delivered to each store. Toppings include fresh fruits such as strawberries and mangos, and crunchy toppings such as nuts and granola.

Red Mango also recently became the first retailer to offer made-to-order iced teas that are low-calorie, sweetened with natural cane sugar, and like the yogurt are fortified with probiotics. The three flavors offered are Lemonocity (Lemonade Green Tea), Mysteaque (Vanilla Black Tea) and Fanteasia (Wildberry Hibiscus Tea).

With two stores currently open on Oahu, the future of Red Mango in Hawaii is bright. We are continually looking for new opportunities and partnerships; my goal is to have 10 to 12 Red Mango shops span across all islands to showcase there is health, happiness and red spoons for all!
