Occupation: New executive chef at Ruth’s Chris at Restaurant Row

Where were you born and raised? Honolulu

What started your interest in cooking? I needed a job and picked a trade, went from there.

What do you most look forward to about your new position? I’m learning like always at a new place. All restaurants have different challenges.

What were your favorite foods growing up? I’m a comfort food kind of guy. I don’t want to cook for myself, I’m a microwave king.

Describe Ruth’s Chris dishes? What are your faves? The name says it all - steak house. It sells itself. We have seven or eight different steaks right now. The best selling is the rib-eye. That would be my favorite.

Where do you like to eat out when you are not working? I live off of Costco hot dogs.

What’s always in your fridge at home? Beer.

What do you like most about cooking in a restaurant? You can’t just pick one thing. It’s the passion of the kitchen. You smell the kitchen, it’s like coffee for me.

With whom would you most like to have dinner? Jennifer Lopez.
