Halloween At Kahala Mall

Kahala Mall and the Department of Parks and Recreation Waialae Complex will be on the prowl for the best-dressed little ghosts, goblins and other characters at its annual Halloween Costume Contest at Kahala Mall on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Registration takes place between 2 and 3 p.m. at the Macy’s Wing of Kahala Mall, fronting Banana Republic. Contest begins at 3 p.m. at the mall’s Center Court. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded, as well as one Honorable Mention in each category, and for each age group.

Judges will be voting on Most Original, Judges’ Choice and Funniest/Cutest costumes.

Categories are Family/Group, Under 1 year old, 1 year old, 2 years old, 3-4 years old, Kindergarten-Grade 1, Grades 2-3, and Grades 4-6.

Also, on Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m., bring your keiki for a safe trick-or-treating experience at Kahala Mall. Keiki in costume only, while supplies last, look for balloons at participating stores.

From now through Oct. 31, Global Village in Kailua is helping to raise awareness about breast cancer with “Fashionably Pink” — purchase a pair of pink Havaianas slippers at $12.50 and 100 percent of the proceeds will go toward the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation—Hawaii affiliate. Made with a 40-year-old-plus secret rubber recipe, Havaianas slippers are made in Brazil and have a huge athlete and celebrity following including Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock and Lindsey Lohan.
