Kahala Mall offers a variety of free community entertainment and activities this month as part of its Shop With Aloha celebration.

Sept. 8 through 13 Hawaiian Quilt Exhibition Master Quilter Carol Kamaile showcases her work, as well as designs by her students created this year with a Hawaiian Quilt Exhibition. Free quilting demonstrations will be offered throughout the week from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Shoppers are encouraged to vote for their favorite quilt in categories Best Design, Best Use of Color and Best in Show.

Saturday, Sept. 12 Anuhea in Concert (noon)

Anuhea, a self-taught singer, song-writer and guitarist, performs songs from her self-titled debut CD from noon to 1 p.m. CD sales and an autograph session to follow.

Text Messaging Contest (1 p.m.)

Hawaii Central Credit Union will host a text-messaging contest, with a special prize awarded to the fastest texters.


 

Maunalua in Concert (2 p.m.)

In observance of Aloha Festivals, Kahala Mall will present Maunalua in a Curators of Hawaiian Music concert at center court from 2 to 3 p.m. CD sales and an autograph session to follow.

Sept. 13 Free Entertainment Ka Hale I o Kahala Halau Hula perform from noon to 1 p.m., and Sounds with Aloha take the stage from 3 to 4 p.m.

Sept. 16 Walk in the Mall St. Francis Hospice Bereavement Services invites anyone dealing with the loss of a loved one to join them as they walk the center from 8 to 9 a.m. Join a community that understands. Walks take place the third Wednesday of each month and the group meets at center court.

Sept. 18, 19 and 20 Race for the Cure registration The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure holds its registration Sept. 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at center court, Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. fronting Claire’s, and Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at center court.

Sept. 19 (10 a.m.)

Health and Wellness MOA Hawaii promotes health and wellness through demonstrations such as flower arrangements and organic farming/living from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

OC16 Sportscaster audition (noon)

OC16 will hold auditions for the next OC16 Sportscaster from noon to 1 p.m. fronting PacSun. For more information, visit http://www.oc16.tv.


Sept. 20 Blood Drive (7:30 a.m.)

The Blood Bank of Hawaii will conduct a blood drive from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. fronting the trolley stop.

Sept. 27 Free entertainment Smart Karate presents a karate demonstration from 11 a.m. to noon, Lee Studios perform classic Broadway tunes from 1 to 2 p.m., and Roy Sakuma Ukulele Studio will host an ukulele performance by its students of Roy Sakuma from 3 to 4 p.m.
