Wakamatsu At Q-Pot.

Q-pot. designer Tadaaki Wakamatsu of Tokyo visited the Ala Moana Center store Aug. 21 to meet with Hawaii fans and customers. Founded in Harajuku in 2002, Qpot. offers fun and unique accessories designed to bring happiness to the person wearing it. Some of their popular items include pendants, rings and charms shaped as chocolates, macaroons, biscuits and ice cream.

“My inspiration comes from small happiness experienced in everyday life, for example, from playing with kids to having a good meal,” says Wakamatsu, a father of two girls age 8 and 6. “I also have a big sweet tooth. When I eat sweet foods, I feel relaxed and happy, and I feel everyone should feel like this.”

Q-pot.’s new Autumn collection featuring Winnie the Pooh

While working on his new autumn collection, the March earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, and Wakamatsu found himself feeling scared of nature’s destructive power. This led him to change his vision for the collection, and in collaboration with Disney, he changed it to feature the lovable Winnie the Pooh.

“Pooh can make people feel relaxed,” explains Wakamatsu. “With this collection I show Pooh living with nature without being scared. He’s one of my favorite characters because he heals people.”

The new Winnie the Pooh collection, as well as a new Milk Biscuit series from the Q-pot. bag line, arrived in the store Sept. 1. Also, in celebration of Fashion’s Night Out, starting from 5 p.m. Sept. 8 to 7 p.m. Sept. 11, receive a free original Q-pot. jewelry box with a purchase of $150 or more, while supplies last.
