Xcel To Donate Proceeds to Cancer Research

Xcel Wetsuits, a Hawaii-based manufacturer of Lycra apparel and wetsuits, is raising money for cancer research and prevention. During the entire month of May, Xcel will donate a portion of net retail sales of Lycra UV-protection apparel for men, women and children to the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii in honor of Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month.

Xcel also will offer a 10 percent discount on all Lycra UV-protection apparel during Memorial Day weekend, May 25 to 28. Xcel Lycra UV-protection tops are available in four styles - sleeveless, short sleeve, three-quarter sleeve and long sleeves - and in both solid and floral print designs. Prices start at $20 for children’s, $24 for men’s and $27 for women’s.

On Oahu, Xcel is located at Ward Centre and in Haleiwa (66-590 Kamehameha Highway).


Denim & Diamonds

The Hawaii Dental Association Dental Samaritans presents Denim & Diamonds Saturday, May 26 at the Hanohano Room atop Sheraton Waikiki from 6 p.m. to midnight.

The event is a fundraiser for the Hawaii Dental Association Dental Samaritans and will be hosted by Lanai of Island 98.5.

There will be a Denim & Diamonds fashion show produced by More Models showcasing fashions from Adasa and jewelry from Phil’s Gold & Diamonds. There also will be live performances by Jordan Segundo, Rocky Brown and Deshannon Higa, and DJ Kutmaster Spaz.

A silent auction of items including a brand new 2007 Saab 9-3 2.0T and John Hardy jewelry, takes place from 6 to 9 p.m.
