Jackie’s Kitchen Encourages Family Dining.

Looking for somewhere fun to take the whole family, but don’t want to spend a small fortune? Jackie’s Kitchen may have the answer. Announcing a new family night on Sunday evenings, the restaurant offers a set menu for four served family style for just $58.

Jackie’s Kitchen, located on Ho’okipa Terrace at Ala Moana Center, has a set menu that includes Ginger Chicken, Jackie’s Kitchen Salad, Hawaiian Style Chopped Steak and Steamed White Rice. There’s a sampler of mini cheesecakes offered as dessert. Open daily for lunch and dinner, the restaurant serves a variety of Asian-inspired pupu dishes and entrees, and has garnered a growing reputation for serving good value portions in a fun environment.“Flair” bartenders - those trained to flip cocktails Tom Cruise style - add to the entertainment, and giant TV screens, showing Jackie Chan movies, (or episodes of Lost depending on which night you dine) are a fun way to entertain those members of the family who don’t like to sit still during dinner.

Panya Celebrates 10 Years with a Benefit for Shriners Hospital.

It’s been 10 years since sisters Alice and Annie Yeung opened Panya Bistro in McCully Shopping Center, and they’re celebrating their success with a fundraiser to benefit Shriners Hospital for Children.

Panya Bistro, known for its Japanese-style bakery, hip lounge at Ala Moana and a menu that takes diners on a tour of Asia, will celebrate with an event limited to just 250 people on June 27.

“We’re really honored to have Fiji heading the lineup of entertainment,” say the sisters. The impressive lineup of performers also includes Inoa’ole, Hot Rain and Laga Savea and Friends.

Today, Panya Bistro has locations at Ala Moana Center and Queen Street and a busy catering department.

A fairly typical Japanese-style bakery fronts Panya Bistro where you can help yourself to a bounty of freshly baked rolls, beautifully flaky, buttery croissants, doughnuts and a selection of savory pastries filled with tuna, ham, sausage and combinations. More than 80 choices are offered most days and include everything from Danish pastry to muffins, scones and the signature Hokkaido bread. Panya means “the bread house,” and the name is fitting. Alice and Annie take their bread very seriously. Before opening Panya they traveled to Japan and invited a master baker to come to Honolulu to teach them and the Panya staff how to bake.

For late-night shoppers and early evening revelers, Panya has a trendy bar area where cocktails are served in a decidedly European atmosphere.
