Chef’s Table Encourages BYOB
One of the best ways to enjoy the series of dinners held monthly at 3660 on the Rise is to bring your own wine - or order from the impressive wine list, offered at a fabulous 40 percent off.“The program is designed to encourage guests to either enjoy wines that they wouldn’t normally order,” says Chef Russell Siu, “or bring their own special bottles to share with friends.”

This month’s chef ‘s table, where Siu creates a menu for one night only, takes place at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 26. The menu includes an amuse bouche, oyster stew, lobster mousse, pan-roasted breast of quail with foie gras, tian of lamb and dessert.

Romano’s Macaroni Grill, the award-winning Italian restaurant on the fourth floor Ho’okipa Terrace of Ala Moana Center, is adding new items to its already extensive menu: Primo Chicken Parmesan, Mama’s Trio of Italian specialties, Layers & Layers of Lasagna, Sizzling Shrimp Scampi and Parmesan-Crusted Artichokes are just some of the new items created by chef Mike Longworth and his team. And all of the new dishes are now available to go, via Room Service In Paradise.
Now taking reservations, Romano’s Macaroni Grill is open daily from 11 a.m. There is ample free parking for the restaurant on the mauka side of Ala Moana Center. For information and reservations, including booking for private parties, call 356-8300.
Hawaii’s Portuguese Community Serves Up Food and Fun at Annual Festa
The Hawaii Council on Portuguese Heritage (HCPH) presents its 29th “Festa,” a twoday festival celebrating Portuguese heritage in Hawaii, on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22 and 23, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at McCoy Pavilion. Admission is $3; free for children age 10 and younger.
Festa, which is Portuguese for"festival” and pronounced “Feshtah,” will offer some of Hawaii’s favorite Portuguese fare for sale, including Portuguese bean soup, Portuguese sausage (linguica) hot dogs, Portuguese sweet bread (pao doce), cod fish stew (bacalhau), vinha d’alhos sandwiches, and, of course, lots of malassadas. There will even be a Portuguese-style “mixed plate” courtesy of Kailua’s Agnes’ Portuguese Bake Shop.
Frank De Lima will perform at 3 p.m. both days. In addition, the festival will feature craftwork imported from Portugal as well as local artists and vendors, cooking demonstrations, cultural displays and continuous entertainment.

Beach Walk Restaurants Offer Free Parking

Now through Nov. 30, enjoy a leisurely weekday lunch at any Waikiki Beach Walk restaurant and you can receive up to four hours of free valet parking at the Embassy Suites-Waikiki Beach Walk hotel. The free valet parking is available with any same-day Waikiki Beach Walk restaurant receipt of $10 or more, and is valid for visits Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Simply have your parking ticket validated by the restaurant, then present that same-day Waikiki Beach Walk restaurant receipt to the parking valet.
Among the well-known restaurants and lunch options at Waikiki Beach Walk are Roy’s Waikiki,Yard House, Holokai Grill, Kaiwa and Giovanni Pastrami. Ruth’s Chris Steak House is available for private lunch parties. Or sacrifice lunch entirely, and instead head over to Mondo Gelato and splurge on desserts before heading back to the office.
