Nothing But Sweet Treats

If you want to give your calorie-counting Valentine a sweet treat with a difference - or treat someone who normally has to pass on the pastries - Sweet Nothings on Waimanu Street has lots to offer this Valentine’s Day.

Co-owner Darin Yokoyama opened the store a little more than a year ago, determined to bring a taste of the gourmet good life to all. Darin suffers from diabetes and started the store with co-sufferers in mind. “We wanted to offer great-tasting alternatives,” he says, adding that once people find the store and taste its delicious, guilt-free treats,it’s easy to keep customers returning. For Valentine’s week, expect to see a wide range of sugar-free, heart-shaped cookies, heart-shaped cakes and boxes of candy.

“Everything is custom-made,“says Darin,“so customers can create their own boxes or gift packages.”

Sugar-free cookies start at $5.75 per dozen.
