KFC Supports The Foodbank.

Here’s a really practical solution to one of the big problems for the Hawaii Foodbank —  KFC Hawaii is offering its stores as a drop-off point for food donations. Through the end of the year, all KFC Hawaii restaurants will serve as donation stations for canned foods. Customers making donations will receive a “$1 Off 3 Piece Combo” coupon that may be redeemed on a future visit to any KFC Hawaii location through 2007.

“KFC Hawaii restaurants are locally owned, managed and staffed, and we want to help make a difference in our own back yard,” said Steve Johnson, general manager of KFC Hawaii.“We are glad to be in a position to offer our loyal customers an opportunity to help hungry families here, especially during the upcoming holiday season.”

Kudos to KFC for giving its customers the opportunity to contribute. It’s clear that more people would love to donate to the Foodbank, but with busy schedules, most simply can’t make the trip to the warehouse on Kilihau Street.

In addition to KFC locations, Ruby Tuesday is a year-round donation station for canned goods. Donations may be taken to any of the four Ruby Tuesday restaurants in Mililani, Ala Moana, Kaneohe and Moanalua.

Order now and you won’t have to think about Thanksgiving dinner until Nov. 22 - and that’s something you’ll really be thankful for.

Live Music Lives!

Live music is making a comeback at one of Hawaii’s oldest restaurants. The Willows has revived its pau hana parties twice a month on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with an all-you-can-eat pupu buffet for just $15. Featuring the Na Hoku Hanohano award-winning Holunape, the Tuesday evening sessions are intended to be a relaxing way to unwind.
