Teen model Megan Centeio
Megan Centeio graduated from Sacred Hearts Academy last year and attends UH-Manoa in hopes of becoming a lawyer. Among many who competed in the Barbizon Hawaii model competition, she was outstanding. Megan then went on to compete in the West Model Talent Competition in Universal City, Calif. The event showcases new talent to agents, managers and producers. Ryan Calder and Doris Bikar were her talent coaches. When she finds time in her demanding schedule she enjoys dancing, surfing and designing clothes. Remember her name, you’ll be hearing back from her again … On-Air radio personality for Hot 93.9 Pomai Uphouse manages the Great Harvest Bread Company in Kahala. I can literally smell the bread being baked. Her brother Adam Wong started the company. She’s a Punahou graduate and her schoolmate was Amanda Schull. By the way, Amanda is an fantastic ballet dancer and starred in Centerstage. More on her later. Pomai should be in front of the camera instead of hiding inside a radio station; let me tell you, she’s hot. Made her TV debut in the FOX series North Shore as a DJ in a night club shot. … Po‘okela Award nominee Sam Polson was last seen on screen in Public Access: Episode 04 of 05 by Lon Takiguchi. The film features Drew Synnestvedt, Dezmond Gilla, Lew Lappert, Robert Franklin and Clea Saldania. Sam was trained in classical theatre at The Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Over the past 18 years Sam has racked up credits in more than 40 stage productions. He has numerous film, TV, stage and commercial credits. His most memorable one is the AT&T spot where he played Santa Claus. Next up for Sam is the musical Guys & Dolls at the Army Community Theatre. Actress Bonita Parsons made her debut in the movie Blume in Love starring George Segal, Susan Anspach, Marsha Mason, Shelley Winters and Maui resident Kris Kristofferson. I had the pleasure of acting with Bonita in The Actors’Showcase. She was Mrs. Robinson and I was Benjamin in The Graduate. While attending UCLA, Bonita answered a casting call and thus began a fruitful career. She’s also worked on the series Columbo with Peter Falk and Lee Grant. When she’s not on a set, you might catch her at Chef Mavro. You can’t miss the beautiful, statuesque former model … Actress Erin Gorham, born and raised in Hartford, Conn., recently participated in the 2005 IMTA New York, New York talent convention. Now she’s packing her bags and heading out to California to test the acting waters. Erin enjoyed acting in junior high drama productions and community theatre. Studied acting with Kyra Poppler, Michelle Van Hessen and Paul Weber. Erin is new to the film industry, but from what I’ve seen so far her talent shines through. I’m sure she’ll make Hawaii proud … Matt Locey began his film and TV career on the hit series Magnum P.I. starring Tom Selleck, John Hillerman, Roger Mosley and Larry Manetti. Matt started to work immediately after graduating from BYU-Hawaii with a B.S. degree in management. In 1995 he created the South Seas Cinema Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting South Seas Cinema as a film genre worldwide. Matt’s been working in the film industry for more than two decades. He’s been a member of the prestigious Director’s Guild of America since 1988 working as an assistant director and recently worked as unit production manager on Tides of War by Brian Trenchard-Smith. The film featured local actors Gene DeFrancis, Eric Lee, Todd Locey, Scott Markus and Roy Tjioe. Kudos to producer Genie Joseph for bringing this project to our shores.
