What an incredible weekend of activities! Thanks to producer Lex Clark for bringing the 2-Day Film School here. The film seminar was led by Dov S.S. Simens, who is known around the world. I learned information not taught at any of the film schools. Dov demystifies how Hollywood makes movies and teaches in a way that electrifies the audience. Kudos to Connie Florez, Susan Horowitz, John Garcia, and Joanna and Kasie Clark for their hard work. Lot of industry players were seen taking the course including actors Laine Yoshioka, Bill Carr, Doug Upp, filmmaker Tommy Takemoto-Chock, producers Cynthia Lockhart and Don Brown, and stunt coordinator Colin Fong. Lex also produced shows such as Golf TV, Aloha Section PGA and Hawaii Sports Cards Memorabilia Show ...

Hot pageant news: Miss Hawaii 2005 Malika Dudley won the Miss Congeniality in the 2006 Miss America Pageant at the Aladdin Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The pageant aired on Country Music Television cable channel. Desperate Housewives actor James Denton hosted the show. I met Malika through pageant director Ann Mata at the Miss Kahala and Miss East Oahu pageants ...

Actress Pat Bentley graduated from Eastern Michigan University with degrees in theatre and music. She’s repped by veteran agent Ruth Woodhall. Pat is also an accomplished music composer and arranger. She studied acting with Roberta Brown, Jonathan Round and Wayne Ward. She enjoys movies with Dominic Monaghan in them. Her credits are Blood Wedding, Pegasus Project, Swingin’ Time and, of course, on Lost. Down time is spent at the ocean bodyboarding, kayaking, sailing or scuba diving ...

The cast of Lost accomplished the amazing hat trick of winning the Outstanding Performance award by an ensemble cast in a drama series. The 12th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center. After garnering similar awards at the Emmys and the Golden Globes, the show is on a major roll. Terry O’Quinn accepted the award on behalf of the cast; his humorous speech was definitely the highlight of the evening. For more info on other award recipients, check out the website at www.sagawards.com/. The Lost cast members who bounded onstage all looked thrilled. I’m doubly happy for all the Hawaii SAG members who are currently working on the mega-hit. On another note, I met a few people who haven’t seen an episode of Lost. Are you kidding me? So to those who are reading this who haven’t jumped on the bandwagon, please jump on board. Not only are you missing out on a fantastic show, you’ll be supporting the economy of the islands as long as they film here ...
