Actor Ron Lake recently moved with wife
Debi to Hawaii

Ron Lake retired from a career in law enforcement to become an actor. From one tough career to another, he made a smooth transition. He was bitten by the acting bug when he signed on to do a segment on Rescue 911 on CBS. His recent credit was in Steel Train’s music video. Also appeared on departed FOX series North Shore. Recently moved to Hawaii from Phoenix. Ron comes from an Italian and Native American family in Blytheville, Ark. He names Halle Berry, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Denzel Washington and Mel Gibson as favorite actors. Great choices. His vacation destination used to be Hawaii; now he feels like he’s on year-round cruise. Ron and his wife Debi live with their Chihuahua mix puppy Kiko on the West Side. One of his many accomplishments is being elected president of the Arizona State Chamber of Commerce. Ron is ready for lights, camera and action …

Actress Shannyn Sossamon was born in Honolulu but moved to Reno as a toddler. Her ethnicity is a exotic blend of Dutch, Filipino, French, German, Hawaiian and Irish. She played the love interest of Josh Hartnett in 40 Days and 40 Nights. (Frequent Hawaii visitor Josh was last seen in town with father Daniel during the Honolulu Marathon.) Shannyn started her career as a dancer. The story about being discovered rings true for her. At a birthday bash for Gwyneth Paltrow she was spotted by casting director Francine Maisler. And Shannyn’s film career took off from there. Next up is a starring role in Undiscovered. The film is about a group of wannabes trying to make a name for themselves in Hollywood. The film also stars newcomer Brittany Ishibashi. I’ll catch up with Brittany’s career soon …

Her goal is to break into Hawaii’s growing independent films. Her name is Noel Nielsen. Originally from Hampton, Va., but came to Hawaii and graduated from Ho‘ala School. Loves to watch old Tinseltown movies starring the awesome twosome Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. Currently enrolled at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She wants to become a high school teacher someday. In A Midsummer Night’s Dream production she took first place at the Virginia high school theatre competition. Noel was last seen onstage as Lenya Zubritsky in the production of Neil Simon’s Fools. I’ve seen her acting, and she’s one of the best young actresses in town. Fans are waiting for her next appearance …

Deylynn White from Kapolei
attends Barbizon Modeling
School and will attend the IMTA
Convention in New York

As a small child he started saving money by raising sheep, pigs and chickens on his grandfather’s farm in Alberta, Canada. Ryan Calder works as a civil engineer by day and turns into an actor by night. Dracula he’s not, but he portrayed the creepy Norman Bates in Psycho at the 2004 Actors’ Showcase. Playing opposite Ryan was actor George Russell, who was Detective Milton Arbogast. In The Actors Group production of The Trip To Bountiful, Ryan played a Houston bus station ticket agent. Rounding out the cast were Sam Polson, Holly Holowach, Jo Pruden and Jeannette Roberts. I’ll be featuring Jeannette in a few weeks. She’s one of my recent discoveries at casting calls. In the Aloha Airlines Aloha Pass commercial, Ryan’s hand even made an appearance. He studies his craft diligently while instructing future actors on developing their own. Currently in his native Canada, but can’t wait to come back home …

The owner of the stunning emerald eyes (left) is fifth-grader Deylynn White, who hails from Kapolei. Attends Barbizon Modeling School and has been invited to attend the IMTA Convention in New York. Her great head shot was captured by Dante Nassi. She was cast in the Steel Train music video recently along with sister Shayane Unwin. Deylynn is an avid soccer player with Hoku Ala and Ka‘oi soccer clubs. She also participates in baseball, canoe paddling, flag football, softball and volleyball. She also enjoys swimming at the beach and going to Red Lobster with her family. Likes the movies Shark Tale and Switching Goals with Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen. Deylynn studies with veteran Magnum P.I. actors Geoff Heise and Wayne Ward. The future holds a lot of rewards for this young model …
