I had another opportunity recently to work with master makeup artist Bryan Furer. He was the hair and makeup designer on the western Unlikely Lawman. Bryan did wonders for cast members Joe Moore, Derek Brown, Katie Doyle, Bob Jones, George O’Hanlon, Matthew Pedersen, Tina Shelton, Allen Cole, Stephen Mead, Michael deYcaza, Rico Tudor, Sherry Shaoling, Bob Whiting, Colin Fong, Don Pierce, Dezmond Gilla, Larry Southard, Dean Reiners, Rick Roper, Keith Griffin and yers truly. Bryan brings his one-ofa-kind expertise to any production, whether it be stage or screen. He owns Image Factory Inc., which develops and builds props for the film industry. His extensive credits include Aloha Summer, Baywatch, Fantasy Island, Pearl Harbor, Picture Bride, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Molokai: The Story of Father Damien. In his downtime he writes screenplays and studies filmmaking. Bryan is gearing up for the Diamond Head Theatre production Into the Woods, opening tonight ...

Aloha from Monterey, Calif., where former Isle actress Erin Gorham resides. I met her in an acting workshop, and despite being new to the industry she’s shown incredible potential. Erin is originally from Connecticut and a former member of the U.S. Air Force. She began acting as a child doing plays at her school, eventually moving on to larger community theatre productions. Erin loves martial arts movies such as Enter the Dragon, Hero and House of Flying Daggers. I’ll keep you updated on this terrific talent wherever she goes ...

Is actor Scott Francis Russell the next Tom Selleck? Well, they’re both well over 6 feet tall and the ladies seem to like them quite a bit. Scott was cast recently in a World War II period film Dark Clouds by Taylour Chang. Scott was born on Maui and raised in my favorite sleepy little town of Kailua. He’s strictly focusing on film work after a lengthy run of stage productions. He studied with acting teachers Gene Shofner, Wayne Ward and Roger Wilko. Scott’s hobby is watching movies of Rachel McAdams and George Clooney. Since graduating from Kalaheo High School, Scott went on to receive a biology degree from the University of Hawaii. To catch a glimpse of this upcoming actor, try Buzz’s Steakhouse in Lanikai ...

Congratulations to Lincoln Jacobe for a wonderful evening under the stars. Hawaii Pacific Entertainment was celebrating the Fourth of July fireworks with local celebrities Alan Arato, Jon Brekke, Jose Corpus, Yvonne Elliman, Ikaika Kimura, Lew Lappert, Scott Francis Russell and Zero. The spread of delicacies and refreshments were enjoyed by all the guests. Entertainment was provided by the lovely ladies Traci Toguchi, Kristian Lei and Sheri Canopin.

Kudos to Patty Low and Laleen Ramiscal for an excellent job of showcasing their beautiful new offices. I’m looking forward to another event produced by Lincoln and the staff at Hawaii Pacific Entertainment ...
