Yours truly with Sherry Shaoling and Dezmond
Gilla hamming it up at the O Lounge
A rarity among actresses is someone with the ability to act, dance and sing. I can attest that Sherry Shaoling does it all and extremely well. She screened her most recent film Pheromone starring Mark Ganialongo, Dezmond Gilla, Mark Malalis, Libette Garcia, Serena Karnagy, Mary Ann Taheny and Laine Yoshioka, produced by Jason Suapaia and directed by Ryan Kawamoto. Sherry is a Punahou alumna and University of Hawaii graduate. Her commercial credits include Central Pacific Bank, Hawaii Public TV, Hawaiian TelCom and Taco Bell. Sherry is classically trained in violin, piano and also is a certified Pilates instructor. Now we’re really talking about a multi-talented individual. She was onstage with Joe Moore in the western The Unlikely Lawman earlier this summer. She’ll be reprising her part in The Forbidden World of Don Tiki next month. Check out her website at www.myspace.com/sherryshaoling to get her performance dates. She’ll be appearing in Burton Richardson‘s action movie next ...
The annual Halloween celebration produced by Jane Kratochvil in the Kahala neighborhood was a success. Well over 500 trick-or-treaters were entertained by a sight and sound show. Families flocked from Mililani to Hawaii Kai and waited patiently to get in the door. Balloon Monsoon created individual balloon characters for every child. Costume grand prize winners were Teri Ann Yamauchi and Tom Johnson - they’re both repeat winners from 2005. Honorable mention went to 5-year-old Nikhil Dadlani for his Philadelphia Eagles uniform, including the oversized helmet. Theatre director Sean O’Malley brought daughters Tea and Ruby for a night of spooky fun. The evening of All Hallows concluded safely ...

She’s currently making her third music video, stay tuned ...
I met actor Grant Uchida at Kaimuki High School at a stunt seminar held by stunt coordinator Colin Fong. Grant was impressive as a self-taught gymnast who participated in the workshop. He trained at the performing arts school at Kaimuki under the guidance of Peggy Anne Siegmund. Grant has done theatre through high school, but decided to try film when he was cast in Dark Clouds, in which he played a young Japanese-American prisoner at a internment camp at Honouliuli. The film was directed by Punahou senior Taylour Chang and premiered last month at the Hawaii International Film Festival.
Grant enjoys skateboarding, playing guitar and eating pizza, and studies Nicolas Cage movies for acting tips.
Grant is currently in rehearsals for the upcoming Diamond Head Theatre production of Cinderella. More on this upcoming actor in the future ...
