Aloha United Way Strikes With Aloha

Aloha United Way struck with aloha recently at Keaau Beach Park in Waianae in its second random act of spreading aloha as part of the organization’s Where Will Aloha Strike Next? campaign. Aloha United Way and volunteers from the Honolulu Board of Realtors distributed blankets, toiletries and school supplies to the homeless in conjunction with St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii’s Our Lady of Keaau Wednesday lunch program at Keaau Beach Park. Auntie Queenie Receives Award

Hula Grill Waikiki recently honored Auntie Queenie Ventura Dowsett (right) with its fourth annual ‘I Ola mau ka Hula’ award for her contributions to Hawaiian culture. The award pays tribute those who have perpetuated hula throughout their lifetime. A private awards ceremony was held at the oceanfront restaurant where Auntie Queenie’s friends and family gathered to celebrate with her. Auntie Queenie was presented with a special kahili award, as well as a commemorative picture frame and plaque that will remain on display at the restaurant. Oceanic Time Warner Cable Awards $10K

Oceanic Time Warner Cable recently announced the winners of its inaugural Road Runner High School High Speed Video Contest. Myron B. Thompson Academy took home the grand prize of $10,000 for its Multimedia Department. Public and private high schools from across the state participated in the contest, and were tasked with making a 90-second or less video answering the question, ‘What Does Road Runner Do For You?’ Pictured are (from from left) winners Nathaniel Menashe, Genevieve Sato and Honey Pollido, (back) Myron B.
