Donating Is Contagious

Hawaii Central Federal Credit Union (HCFCU) held its annual membership meeting with a game of “Guess the Money in the Jar.” The winner could keep all the money from the jar with the right answer. To everyone’s surprise, the winner decided to donate the winnings to the Japan Relief Fund of the American Red Cross. This generosity touched everyone at HCFCU, and all 32 employees opened their hearts and wallets and turned the original $36.82 donation into $554.08 in just one day! Pictured above are HCFCU staff members presenting a check to American Red Cross CEO, Hawaii State Chapter, Coralie Chun Matayoshi (center in red jacket).

Korean Studies Expanded

UH-Manoa Center for Korean Studies celebrated the establishment of the $2 million Center for Korean Studies Chair Endowment, thanks to the generosity of the Korea Foundation and other donors. This important new endowment will expand the teaching of Korea-related courses and have a profound impact on UH-Manoa’s research and education in this dynamic field.
