HCIA Honors Reps. Say And Tsuji

The Hawaii Crop Improvement Association recently honored state House Speaker Calvin Say (center) and state Rep. Clift Tsuji (right), chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, with the 2010 BIO Co-Legislators of the Year award. The lawmakers were recognized by the Biotechnology Industry Organization for their leadership and support of the agricultural biotechnology industry in Hawaii. Nanakuli Performing Arts Gets $20K

PVT Land Company Ltd. recently sponsored a fundraising dinner for the students of Nanakuli Performing Arts Center. More than 35 donors raised $20,000 to help send the students to perform at the Fringe Festival in Scotland next summer. Diamond Bakery Raises $5,000

As part of Diamond Bakery’s “Have a Heart - Save a Heart 2010” statewide campaign, the company recently donated $5,000 from sales of its healthy crackers to the American Heart Association- Hawaii Chapter “Heart Walk,” promoting healthy hearts. A third component of the promotion involves providing CPR lessons, and firefighters from Pearl City Fire Station will instruct Manana Elementary School teachers and staff.
