HTY Receives $20,000 Grant

The City and County of Honolulu Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts recently awarded a $20,000 grant to Honolulu Theatre for Youth for its 2009-2010 performance season. Mayor Mufi Hannemann presented the grant to HTY at the opening performance of Nightingale at Tenney Theatre. ACS Awards $720,000 Research Gift

The American Cancer Society has awarded Dr. Wael ElShamy of the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii with the Dr. Lawrence and Bo Hing Chan Tseu Research Grant on Breast Cancer Metastasis. Tseu’s gift of $720,000, in memory of his wife, is the largest ever received by an ACS researcher in Hawaii. Accepting the check were (from left) Jim Grobe, Jackie Young, Dr. Wael ElShamy, Lawrence Tseu, Jerris Hedges, Michele Carbone and Chris Pablo.
