Fundraising In Style

Longtime Windward auto dealer Mike McKenna provided a customized Susan G. Komen edition of a 2012 Ford Mustang as the pace car for this year’s Oct. 16 Susan G. Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure, which launched in Waikiki next to Kapiolani Park. The fundraiser generated $675,000 and has raised $1.9 billion since 1982. Photo by Maryanne Hamilton

U.S. Army Helps Wounded Warriors

Maj. Gen. Joseph Chavez, Deputy Commanding General, Army National Guard, U.S. Army Pacific, hosted a check donation ceremony for Shaun Toy (center), Oct 28, at Fort Shafter. Toy presented a $9,000 check for the Wounded Warrior Program. Toy hosts Air Soft tournaments with the proceeds going to the WWP. Toy started the Air Soft Warriors of Hawaii two years ago and has raised more than $20,000. The mission of the Wounded Warrior Program is to honor and empower wounded warriors from Iraq and Afghanistan. Renee Humphrey, alumni manager for WWP, accepted the check on behalf of the WWP
