KIA Donates $8,000 To Schools

The Kakaako Improvement Association made a presentation of $8,000 each to KCAA Muriel Preschool and Voyager Public Charter School at a recent board of directors’ meeting. Proceeds were from the 2009 KIA Invitational Golf Tournament held last month at Pearl Country Club. The schools service and educate keiki from 2 years old through the eighth grade. ONS Presents Nursing Award

Shawna Chong (left) was honored recently as the 2010 Mana `Olana or “Nurse of Hope” by the Oncology Nursing Society-Hawaii (Oahu) Chapter at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Chong, pictured here with last year’s winner Beth Freitas (middle) and 2010 candidate Christa Braun-Inglis (right), currently works at The Queen’s Medical Center.
