Na Kama Kai Receives $4,000

Jaime Arreola (far right), regional general manager at Duke’s Kauai, and Dylan Ching (second from left), general manager at Duke’s Waikiki, recently presented Duane DeSoto (third from left) and the kids of Na Kama Kai with a $4,000 donation from the Duke’s Waikiki Legacy of Aloha program. The program is part of Duke’s Waikiki’s commitment to give back to nonprofit organizations that Duke Kahanamoku would have supported in his own day. Na Kama Kai empowers Hawaii’s youths through ocean awareness and safety.

Riggers Soccer Club Captures Win

Hawaii’s Riggers Soccer Club’s premier U14 (under 14) girls soccer team Onipa’a won the U.S. Club Soccer National Cup IX Regional Championship for their age group in Seattle recently. The team went undefeated throughout the entire tournament, scoring 12 goals and allowing just one goal. ALU LIKE Inc. Receives $35K Grant

ALU LIKE Inc. recently received a $35,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation’s Hawaii State Giving Program to support its Youth Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Prevention Project. The after-school and cultural programs, which reach 1,850 youths per year, seek to improve their understanding of positive values, self-concept, leadership skills and the negative effects of illegal substances.
