Salvation Army Receives $203K

When Diana Lord, a retired Kamehameha Schools middle school teacher, died in March 2008, she left The Salvation Army a gift of $203,694.02 to provide financial support to Salvation Army programs that assist the elderly. The gift was recently received by Maj. Edward Hill, divisional commander of The Salvation Army Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division. It was awarded by Shin Domen, executive director of CSI Inc., a local nonprofit organization that provides financial oversight to the elderly. Domen helped administer Lord’s bequest. Island Insurance Donates To IHS

Island Insurance employees recently collected and delivered more than 700 pounds of food and supplies to the Institute for Human Services, the only walk-in 24-hour emergency shelter on Oahu. The employees encourage others to contribute whatever they can. IHS began as a volunteer-run organization more than 30 years ago, and enjoys a rich history as a site for community service.
