School Of Architecture Gets $150K

Former professor and director of the Architectural Practicum program in the School of Architecture at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Donald Goo and wife Laura recently established the endowed School of Architecture Practicum Fund with a $150,000 gift. With this gift, they also are providing for a related expendable fund. Their generosity will support and further develop the program and provide financial assistance to students attending Practicum Studios. HALC Receives President’s Award

The Hawaii Association of Letter Carriers (HALC) recently received the distinguished President’s Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Aloha Chapter in honor of its service to Hawaii Foodbank and the state on National Philanthropy Day at the Sheraton Waikiki. For the past 18 years, the Hawaii Association of Letter Carriers has organized annual statewide food drives to help feed Hawaii’s children, the elderly and those needing emergency food assistance. Teacher Of The Year Is Awarded New Car

The Hawaii State Department of Education recently named Kristen Brummel (left) of Noelani Elementary School (Manoa) as 2011 Hawaii State Teacher of the Year. The Hawaii Honda Dealers Association presented the fourth-grade teacher with a new Honda Insight Hybrid to use for a year.
