In the true spirit of aloha, Hula Grill Waikiki recently celebrated its seventh anniversary by donating $3,000 to Waikiki School’s Green Project, which encourages students to love and protect their ‘aina, discover where food comes from and take pride in growing their own food. The donation also kicked off the restaurant’s Legacy of Aloha program to benefit local nonprofit organizations. Iolani Students Take Global Award

Representing the United States, three ‘Iolani School students won first place in the 2011 Hong Kong Polytechnic University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Student Challenge June 16 in Hong Kong. The competition drew 191 teams from 27 countries in secondary school and university divisions. The Banker, The Builder & The Architect

A playhouse valued at $10,000, designed and donated by Peter Vincent Architects for a fundraising auction for the Hawaii branch of the International Dyslexia Association (HIDA), was purchased by the Bank of Hawaii Foundation. It was built by Armstrong Builders using materials donated from the Armstrong Foundation for the House of Hope, a Child & Family Service domestic violence shelter located in Leeward Oahu.
