Walking For Mental Health

The fourth-annual NAMIWalk Hawai’i, held Oct. 1 in Honolulu, raised more than $80,000 to support mental health education throughout the state. It was the event’s most successful year yet, drawing a record 850 participants. The 3K walk is part of the NAMIWalks nationwide fundraising and mental health awareness program. The walk is held in more than 83 communities around the country to provide services to nearly 32,000 adults and 12,000 children affected by serious mental illness. Highlights included free massages, blood pressure testing, health education, food and entertainment, as well as comments by honorary Walk chairman Lt. Gov. Brian Schatz.

NEA Honors Kaapana
