Walking Strong

Bank of Hawaii hosted its fifth annual Community Walk at Kapiolani Park to support Hawaii’s children. Employees selected the walk’s beneficiaries, and then raised a total of $111,000 in donations for After-School All-Stars Hawaii, Easter Seals Hawaii and HUGS. Each organization will receive $37,000. Preserving Hawaiian Knowledge

Judith Pyle, University of Hawai’i Foundation board trustee and philanthropist, has made a $2 million pledge to establish an endowed dean’s position at the UH Manoa Hawai’inuiakea School of Hawaiian Knowledge. Pending Board of Regents’ approval, this fund will be known as the Judith Dion Pyle Dean’s Chair in the Hawai’inuiakea School of Hawaiian Knowledge. Boys & Girls Club Gets Stylish Donation

After APEX 2011, the annual hip-hop event for breakdancers, Freelance Clothing was able to donate a total of $1,300 to the Boys & Girls Club to help it continue encouraging and enriching the lives of our youths. The success of this event is thanks to the many sponsors and volunteers, as well as Hawaii’s hip-hop, car and bike communities that supported APEX 2011.
