WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!
ACTRESS Cameron Diaz was seen at the Hard Rock’s $20 minimum roulette table ... at her salary of $20 million per film, she could probably move up to the $200 minimum table and still not make a big dent in her daily wages.
SHE PLAYED with her monkey while a band of midgets led a pack of goats around the room ... that was the highlight of Paris Hilton’s 26th B’day party. Even more disappointing was lack of celebs at the heiress’s soirée - only sister Nicky and buddy Nicole showed up. Never have your party during the same weekend as the NBA’s All Star Game.
VEGAS Five-O reported a record 362 arrests during the star-studded weekend.
NEW TOOLS for poker players: counterfeit pens and ultra-violet lights. In God we trust ... all others we test for fakes!
CARLOS MENCIA, host of Comedy Central’s Mind of Mencia and the Super Bowl Bud Light commercial “Class of Mencia,” adds a second show during his run at the Palms. Don’t be a Dee, Dee, Dee, check him out at the Pearl on March 23.
MAGIC IS synonymous with Vegas like Hawaii is to Spam, and redefining how magic is performed on stage is Hans Klok, the World’s Speediest Illusionist. Preview performances (read discount) start April 18 at the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood. Maybe he’s so quick because Carmen Elektra will be onstage with him.
CONGRATS TO the folks at Boyd Gaming for more than doubling their fourth quarter income from $26 million to $56 million.
JUST FOR fun, the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino has posted odds for the 24 American Idol finalists. Jordin Sparks, daughter of former NFL player Phillippi Sparks, is the early favorite at 5-1, Sundance Head 7-1, Jared Cotter 8-1 and Lakisha Young 10-1. IF THE New Year’s sky over Aiea, Palolo and Kalihi are any indication, we love aerials and things that go boom. Just north of Vegas on I-15 in the Paiute nation of the Valley of Fire you’ll find ... a fireworks store. Giant sky rockets, Roman candles, 100,000 TAU stings, M88s and more can be bought anytime without the threat of arrest. Even better, just off the parking lot is a huge field with the sign “fireworks launching pads.”
SPEAKING OF things that go boom ... sometime in mid-March The STARDUST will be imploded. The date will be announced a couple of weeks out. Clark County, however, will not issue the permits until a few hours before the event for public safety.
BILL GATES has a new home in Vegas ... he and Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, one of the richest businessmen in the Middle East, have bought the Four Season Hotels for $3.37 billion. The one thing Bill couldn’t buy in Vegas was a room at the Mansion at the MGM - those are reserved for folks with a million-dollar lines of credit. On rare occasions, Gates is famous for playing blackjack at $5 a hand.
