Steven Schirripa aka Bobby “Bacala” Baccalieri from The Sopranos was an entertainment director for the Riviera (he’s still on the payroll as a consultant). Check out his new TV series Spike’s Casino Cinema that starts on Sept. 10 on Spike TV (Oceanic Cable 590). You’d be smiling too if you got paid to work with the ladies from the Rivera’s Crazy Girls.

What are the odds of the dealer or player hitting a 12 card 17 in blackjack? That right, 11 aces and one six in a single hand is pretty rare, but it does happen once in 287,209,346,813,617 hands (a big mahalo to the Wizard of Odds for the math).

It’s mango season - in Vegas! The Triple 7 Restaurant and Microbrewery at Main Street Station features a different specialty brew every month, and the current flavor is Mango Cream Ale.

Congrats to all the folks at Boyd Gaming. They won 210 of Casino Players magazine’s “Best of Gaming” awards. In Atlantic City, The Borgata won a total of 46 awards, Sam’s Town 30, The Orleans 27 and Mainstreet Station 24. Head honcho Keith Smith (Boyd’s president and chief operating officer) says “Our strong performance is a tribute not only to the quality of our properties, but also to the tireless efforts of the 25,000 members of the Boyd Gaming family. They are the ones who make Boyd Gaming properties the ‘Best in Gaming’ and these awards truly belong to them.”

Castle grad Mae Russell, marketing manager for the Palms Hotel, reports that the Playboy Club ceiling has not one but four of the ten Baccarat Crystal chandeliers ever made. Adding one to your humble hale will set you back $250,000, but you’ll be in good company - Paris Hilton has one hanging from her bedroom ceiling.

What do Ronald Reagan, Elvis Presley and Siegfried and Roy have in common? They all played in the Frontier showroom (it was Elvis‘s first Vegas gig). Now closed, the hotel’s next dates are with the auctioneer and wrecking ball.

MGM Mirage executives announced that the Luxor name and pyramid shape will stay but they will invest $300 million to redo the inside. Out with the old, gone will be the thematic Egyptian references, hieroglyphics and the family style arcade. In with the new, the Aurora Lounge, Noir, Flight and LAX - a clone of the trendy L.A. nightclub - is scheduled to open on Labor Day. Kerry Simon (Hard Rock celebrity chef) will open CatHouse, a restaurant and Euro-style lounge upstairs. Also in for a facelift are all 2,500 rooms. Luxor Trivia: Next time you’re in the casino look up. The space you are seeing is equal to 3.4 acres - enough room to park nine 747’s.

Didja hear about the Angola, Ind., Pizza Hut waitress who got a Las Vegas size tip? Jessica Osborne regularly waited on the same family every Friday, and one day the woman in the party mentioned that they were moving and Jessica said to stop by and say goodbye. They did and left her a $10,000 Aloha ‘Oe tip! Good things really to happen to good people.
