WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Players Edge!

Fergie: Paris loves her

YOU CAN’T TEACH an old dog new tricks. Paris Hilton joined sister Nicky in the front row of Fergie’s concert at the Palm’s Pearl theater. After the show, the Hiltons’ party progressed to Hugh Hefner’s Sky Villa and went into the wee hours at the Moon Night Club.

EARTH, WIND & FIRE performs at the Las Vegas Hilton Aug. 23-25.

SPEAKING OF the Hilton ... going on now through next June, it’s the $1 million Blackjack Classic. A $2,500 entry fee gets you four day/three night hotel accommodations and an entry into the tournament. Get the complete details at www.KimosVegas.com.

“LIVE LONG AND PROSPER” maybe Spock’s most famous quote, but my all-time favorite is “Brace yourselves; the area of penetration will no doubt be sensitive” (Trekkie humor). The official Star Trek Convention starts Wednesday, and as usual they’ll be plenty of guest appearances including George Takei (Sulu), Jonathan Frakes (William T. Riker), William Shatner (Capt. Kirk) and Leonard Nimoy (Spock).

DID YOU KNOW that last year visitors spent $2.3 billion on show tickets, $5.4 billion shopping and $11 billion on food and beverages while visiting Las Vegas?

MOST PLAYERS know that enough play at their favorite casino will earn them RFB status ... meaning the casino will comp their room, food and board. Bigger players are FRFB or Full-RFB, meaning they get air, limo and other things comp’ed as well.

NOW THROUGH the end of September (think UH game on Sept. 15), the Mandalay Bay has special room rates that include two for one tickets to Mamma Mia , complimentary spa access, $300 in Mandalay Place  certificates and Fly Back Free Certificates. E-mail me for the scoops or look online for the Summer Glow Special.

THE HOUSING market in Vegas is on the down low, but a penthouse on the 42nd floor in the Sky Las Vegas just sold for $2.7 million. It’ll cost the buyer a few dollars more to move in because the price didn’t include appliances, flooring, interior design elements and wall coverings.

WE ALL KNOW that Tom Selleck is replacing James Caan on Vegas, but Nikki Cox’s replacement may be actress Camille Guaty (Prison Break). She’ll be playing Piper Nelson, the feisty new casino host (watch out, Sam). If she looks familiar, that’s because she appeared in four Vegas episodes earlier this year. Look for the two-hour NBC season premiere Sept. 28.

HARRAH’S just increased the number of World Series of Poker tournament events to 12. Poker commissioner Jeffrey Pollack said, “Each event brings the thrills and excitement of the WSOP to poker players at the local and regional level.” Sadly, still no Hawaii event on the roster.

PLAY THE BEST ... the 2006 Card Player, Player of the Year Michael “The Grinder” Mizrach will host a tournament at the Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino. Buy in is $120, and if you eliminate him you win $300 in promo chips and major bragging rights. Tourneys start at 7 every night except Saturday.

GET MORE Kimo’s Vegas online at www.KimosVegas.com, www.AroundHawaii.com, in both issues of “MidWeek” and with Billy V. Friday morning at 7:20 on Hawaiian105 KINE.
