WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!

MAMAS, LOCK UP YER BABIES ... Joe Hardy, the 84-year-old lumber store billion-aire, is divorcing his 23-year-old bride, Kristin Gorgin, after being married for just 107 days. You may remember him as the guy who paid millions to Christina Aguilera, Robin Williams and Bette Midler to entertain at his birthday party.

THERE’S A NEW optional play showing up at the Blackjack tables called “Automatic Win.” Akamai players will recognize this as the old “Casino Surrender.” No additional bet is needed. If your first two cards total 20 and the dealer’s up card is a 10, you can choose “Automatic Win.” The catch is you only win half of your original bet (bet $10 and win $5), even if the dealer eventually busts. Invoking this option gives the casino an even bigger edge.

SOON YOU’LL BE able to gamble in your room, in the elevator, during a show, at dinner or just about anywhere in a Las Vegas hotel/casino. Early next year the Venetian will start testing handheld gaming devices, about the size of a PDA. The money you win or lose on these new handhelds is 100 percent real.

THE PENNY MEGA-BUCKS pays off again - this time at the Las Vegas Casino Royal. Tony Pieper from Dallas dropped about $80 before he walked away with $11,319,297, the second-largest penny jackpot in history.

GANGSTAH DOLLARS ... City officials have promised $800,000 more for the “mob museum.” A casino would be the best home for such an unusual showplace, but an old post office (where the pictures of criminals once hung) comes in a close second. The idea of mob-lawyer-turned-Downtown-Vegas-Mayor Oscar Goodman. The FBI and Nicholas Pileggi, author of the movie, screenplay and the book, Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas, will support the museum.

ACCORDING TO the latest estimates, the population of the city of Las Vegas is now 602,700. Up almost 2 percent from a year ago, it’s now similar in size to Boston, Seattle, Washington, D.C., and El Paso. With that kind of growth, we won’t have to chip away at the fault line to make it our Ninth Island.

VIVA LAS SPAIN? A new Las Vegas-style casino and theme park complex is being planned in a Spanish desert that’ll include 32 hotels, five theme parks and wedding chapels! Developers of the Gran Escala will also be including a 007 themed park called “Spyland.”

MANY FOLKS like to take Airborne or Emergen-C on the plane - to make the medicine go down a little easier, try a Mo-C-ito Mojito:

* 4 ounces light rum
* splash of soda water
* muddled mint
* 1 Emergen-C Lemon-Lime packet

DIDJA KNOW that many lottery winners show up to claim their prizes right before they expire? Seems that many folks buy tickets and forget about them until they hear about a $100 million unclaimed ticket. If you’ve got a ticket with the number 3337744, better book a first-class ticket to Detroit by Jan. 3!

CLARENCE CHONG of Kaneohe won $3,214, and Janis Anzai of Mililani won $3,200 from the slots at the Main Street.
