WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!

DON’T MESS with the man in Vegas ... Miss Nevada lost her crown because she posed for photos unbecoming of a Miss USA. Now Katie Reese has been arrested in Las Vegas for assaulting a police officer. Stopped for a traffic violation, she was booked into a Clark County jail for driving with no proof of insurance, driving with suspended license plates, speeding and resisting a police officer.

THE SUPER BOWL wasn’t so super for the Patriots or the sports books in Nevada - $2.57 million is how much they lost on the Giants’ win, mostly because of money-line bets (people betting on their favorite team with no points). But it’s only the third loss on the bookies’ books, and the first loss for them since 1995 when the 49ers beat the Chargers and covered the 20-point spread. The most-watched game in the history of the sport grossed $92 million (the third biggest handle ever), just missing the industry’s predicted $100 million gross.

LAS VEGAS long shot ... The Dolphins and Falcons are at 150 to 1 to win next year’s big game. Odds on the Giants returning are 14 to 1, and the Pats are at 5 to 2.

$8 BILLION (that’s no typo ... ba ba ba billion) a month is what high rollers are losing at the Crown Macau casino.

THE 31-STORYCrowne Plaza hotel (no relation to the above) will have an Asian-themed interior and exterior, no doubt because of its location - the entrance to Chinatown Las Vegas. Look for the grand opening in 2010.

THE WYNN CLASSIC poker tournament is happening Feb. 26 through March 19. Last year, almost 2,600 players won just over $4.5 million in prize money, and Zachary Hyman’s first-place finish won him about $750,000. Get the details on a free seat in the tourney or how to enter at the Wynn Poker Room.

SOLOMON AIKAU from Kamuela won a Mustang on the quarter slots making it two ‘Stangs given away in one month at the Fremont. But the payoffs didn’t stop there.

Jared Victorino of Paia’s four aces plus the joker got him more than $30,000 from the Fremont’s Pai Gow table. The odds on getting such a pretty hand are 140,000 to 1.

SOME-THING TO consider after your next big win ... on display at the World Market Center in Las Vegas is the world’s most-expensive bed. It’s naturally thermo-regulating, anti-bacterial, odor-proof, anti-stress and completely customized for each buyer. Hold on to your wallet - the queen-sized slice of heaven costs $75,000! Pillows are extra (no kidding) at $2,000 each.

The Mirage Volcano is getting a makeover

SOLD ... for $21 million: Gold Spike Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas. New owners plan to renovate the property and the adjacent Travel Inn.

SUB-PRIME GAMBLE ... seven of the top 100 ZIP codes with the most foreclosures last December were in Las Vegas: 89031 in North Las Vegas had the most foreclosures with 741 filings, and neighbor ZIP 89131 was second on the list with 665 filings.

WHAT HAPPENED to the Volcano? It’s undergoing some major renovations, and the Mirage says work should be done by the end of the year. This is the second makeover the attraction has had since its 1989 introduction.
