Scott Sakanishi won $10,000
at the Golden Nugget

WELCOME TO Kimo’s Vegas! This week on Sports Radio 1420, our guest is Bob Dancer, author, professional gambler, casino consultant and a guy who’s won more than a $1 million playing Video Poker (in one year). Join us Thursday at 9 a.m. or the replay Friday at 6:30 p.m. to learn how you can do better in the casinos.

CONGRATS TO Boyd Gaming (the folks who own the Cal, Main Street, Fremont, Stardust, Sam’s Town and The Coast Casinos) because it doubled its earnings per share four quarters in a row! The Downtown Properties (including Vacations Hawaii) had net revenues of $67.2 million.

WILL THE ESPN crew be flying to Las Vegas for the 2007 NBA All Star Game? Look for the official word in a couple of weeks.

STEVE WYNN scores a coup! The majority of Vegas visitors come from California and Arizona. He just signed the award-winning Broadway show Spamalot (not the computer kine or the musubi kine, but the Monty Python kine) to play in the hotel that bears his name. He’s even building a $50 million theater for the show. The coup? The national tour (that will eventually take residence at the Wynn) will not play in Arizona and California, forcing those residents to visit Vegas to see the show.

HAWAII BROADWAY fans will be able to see Mamma Mia! at the Mandalay Bay (now), Avenue Q at the Wynn (the end of August), Hairspray at the Luxor (later this year) and Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian, in addition to Spamalot (next year). AND NOW for something a little less cultured … FM100 wakeup guys Billy V, Lina Girl and Pipi said that Mikalah Gordon, the Las Vegas American Idol contestant, will be featured on the premiere of Fran Drescher’s Living with Fran … I meant that some consider TV to be less cultured than a Broadway show (Billy, Lina and Pipi have a lotta culture. No, really, they do).

IF YOU’VE always wanted to ride a Segway (you’ve seen them in Waikiki), Lake Las Vegas, the home of Oprah and Celine Dion, is offering guided Segway tours. Call 1- 888-GO-SEGWAY for more info.

THE JULY issue of Fast Company pegs the daily gross of the Cirque du Soleil shows in Vegas at $1 million.

LOCAL RESIDENT Scott Sakanishi won $10,000 at the Golden Nugget playing a dollar 777 Double Jackpot machine — now we can go to Primm.

‘Spamalot’ is coming to Wynn Las Vegas,
but won’t play in California or Arizona

CONGRATS TO Wolfgang Puck for being inducted into the 2005 Gaming Hall of Fame. This is the highest honor from the Gaming- Entertainment industry and is presented annually to those who’ve distinguished themselves by making a significant contribution to the industry. Did you know that he opened his first restaurant in Hollywood (Spago’s) in 1982 and his first Vegas eatery in 1992?

BASED ON the first six months of this year, estimates put the number of people traveling through McCarran International Airport in 2005 at 43 million.

MEGABUCKS is at $17 million and climbing! THIS IS Double Point month at the Palms! The only place you can get a comp tattoo in Vegas.
