WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!
MIRROR, MIRROR, ON THE WALL, who’s the highest-paid Vegas diva of them all? If it goes down as planned, Mariah Carey will get a $100-million deal as the resident star of Planet Hollywood starting in 2010. Mrs. Cannon is the most successful female singer of all time, and her latest CD, E=MC2, is a play on Albert Einstein’s formula that’s defined as “Emancipation=Mariah Carey to the second power.”
PERHAPS SHE’D BE interested in Oscar winner Nick Cage’s house (she can certainly afford it) ... the 14,000-square-foot home has a 16-car garage, seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a game room, a movie theater and comes fully furnished. A part-time real estate mogul, Cage has bought and sold homes all over the globe including Bath, England, Rhode Island, San Francisco, New Orleans - and his Newport Beach home was sold for a record $35 million. If you niele, the $9,950,000 address is located at 5100 Spanish Heights Dr.
STILL TIME to make plans to support Miss Hawaii Nicole Fox when she competes in the Miss America Competition at Planet Hollywood on Jan. 24 - or you can watch the live broadcast on TLC.
LET’S HOPE what happens in Vegas ... The headline in the Las Vegas Review Journal read:“Naked Man Hijacks Bus.”
STEVE WYNN has started hiring staff for Encore, his latest hotel/casino tower, increasing his payroll by 5,300 jobs. That should put a substantial ding in the Vegas unemployment rate, now at a 14-year high of 6.5 percent, or about 64,600 people. Online reservations are being taken for February, even though Encore is expected to open in December.
ANDRE AGASSI is moving his annual benefit, “Grand Slam for Children,” to the Wynn after 12 years at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Because of the smaller facility, the Oct. 11 ticket will be even harder (and more expensive) to get.
The $10,000 Silver Tables are sold out, but you can still get a Gold or Platinum table for $17,500 and $40,000. If you’re really a high roller with a philanthropic streak, check out the Diamond Table for $85,000 that’s hosted by the eight-time Grand Slammer with private performances by James Taylor and John Ondrasik (Five for Fighting).
THIS WEEKEND at the Las Vegas Hilton ... 10 bouts of World Championship Muay Thai featuring Michael Manaquil, Daiki Koshio, Shane “Rocky” Del Rosario, Raul Romero, Christine Toledo and Ruth Ashdown.
THE AIRLINES are suggesting that McCarran International Airport go slow ... Postpone or delay the 14-gate, 1.87 million-square-foot, $1.8-billion expansion known as Terminal 3. Worried about the declining number of travelers and increased cost of doing business, they don’t want to pass on additional charges to passengers for a terminal that may not be needed right now.
