THE CIRCUS IS COMING to town ... Cirque du Soleil’s touring show Saltimbanco is coming to the Blaisdell starting Oct. 3. It’s a colorful reflection of our urban lifestyle and features the Chinese poles, juggling, the Russian swing, bicyclists, bungees and the trapeze. Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté recalls, “Hawaii was always a creative place for me, a place to think ... I was really attracted to the sun. I spent a lot of time on the beach. When I first thought of forming a circus, I was watching the sun set on a beach in Hawaii.” And that’s how the name of a half-billion-dollar global entertainment company Cirque du Soleil (Circus in the Sun) came to be.
