BROTHER, CAN YOU spare a quarter? ... Frank Sciannameo was playing the 25-cent video roulette machine at the Orleans when he hit his number and won a 34 to 1 payout. After the machine paid him $8.50 (34 quarters),
he called the Nevada Gaming Control Board to report that the machine still owed him 25 cents. He believed that the machine should pay the same way as the roulette table in the casino (return his original bet plus winnings). After an extensive investigation, the Gaming Control ruled in favor of the casino because all machines are programmed to count the return of the original bet as a win. On a three-coin slot machine (that pays three coins for three bars) whenever you hit the three bars, the machine counts it as a three-coin win and not a push. Blackjack machines also are programmed to count pushes as a win.
