GEEK NIRVANA, the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show, starts next Thursday in Vegas. Experts are predicting that this will be the year of the tablet at CES as manufacturers reveal contenders to the iPad throne.

HUGH HEFNER made the news over the holidays by proposing to his 24-year-old girlfriend Crystal Harris and tweeting about it, saying, “When I gave Crystal the ring, she burst into tears. This is the happiest Christmas weekend in memory.” To further clarify his intentions, the bunny master did a follow-up post, “Yes, the ring I gave Crystal is an engagement ring. I didn’t mean to make a mystery out of it. A very merry Christmas to all.”

STEVE WYNN has agreed to serve as an outside director for a joint venture between the governments of Monaco and Qatar. As part of the deal, Prince Albert II of Monaco appointed the Wynn chairman and chief executive Monegasque citizenship. The casino mogul has confirmed that he will retain his American citizenship.


RUMORS CONTINUE to circle the Strip that MGM Mirage is about to divest itself of the Mirage and/or The Mandalay Bay. Depending on the source of the rumor, Phil Ruffin and/or Penn National Gaming are the bargain hunters in the company’s asset sale to ease its debt load.
