BETH RAYMER’S bestselling book, Lay The Favorite: A Memoir Of Gambling, is being made into a movie titled Lay The Favorite, Take The Dog. The movie is about a cocktail waitress who becomes one of the biggest bookies in Vegas. Bruce Willis, Justin Timberlake and Catherine Zeta-Jones are rumored to be the favorites to star in the flick ... hard to imagine her as a drink slinger.

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL comes to Sin City when the Chicago Cubs face the Cincinnati Reds March 12 and the Los Angeles Dodgers March 13 at Cashman Field.

BECAUSE THE Nevada Gaming Commission has altered its rules, you may get to place a wager on the Academy Awards, the presidential election or even the unpredictable Grammys (Arcade what?). Until now, Las Vegas sports books could only take wagers on sporting events, but beginning this month, Regulation 22 allows them to ask permission to book (take bets) on non-sporting events. The change in ruling was designed to help Vegas casinos compete with offshore bookmakers.
