WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... the Player’s Edge!

THINK YOU’VE heard of everything? The World Series of Baseball, The Little League World Series, The College World Series, The World Series of Blackjack, The Craps World Series, The World Series of Poker - perhaps you’ve even heard of The Blind World Series of Poker - but have you ever heard of The World Series of Beer Pong? Each team has two players and six half-full cups of beer on their side of the table. Each time you hit a ping pong ball into your opponent’s cup, he or she has to drink the beer, the match is over when your beer is gone.

Beer was optional, but (can you believe) none of the contestants elected to use water instead. One hundred and sixty-four people competed in the three-day event at the Oasis Hotel and Casino. Nick Velissaris and Jason Coban from Ann Arbor, Mich., won the title and $10,000. Odd there were no entrants from Hawaii ... maybe next year.

DOYLE BRUNSON is the undisputed king of poker, and his castle is the hi-limit poker room at the Bellagio.

Don’t get too excited, though, because an audience (cash game) with the king will set you back a minimum of $500,000. You may have to wait your turn ... to date the king has had no shortage of subjects willing to fork over a half a mill for the privilege. Ahhh, it’s good to be king!

THE MINT Hotel and Casino opened in 1957 and became part of Binion’s Horseshoe in 1989. Although some would argue that every casino is a Mint (license to print money), the Palms Casino Resort is opening a new high roller lounge (a license to print BIG bucks) called “The Mint.” The Mint is not for everyone - you’ll need a king’s ransom and special VIP access for a visit.
